Personally, I’ve always been interested in science news which always include stories about human expansion into natural areas exterminating biodiversity, usually in Africa. It’s depressing to hear about that stuff nonstop over the course of decades. Never any good news. Never any trend reversal. Nothing that I can do personally, and absolutely nothing I write here will change anything at all- even more depressing! What the hell are we supposed to do!?
I can’t be the only one reading this news with feelings of dread and impending gloom.

The aloneness, if that’s a word, is exacerbated by the silence coming out of Washington DC.

One would think that the president, Vice President, or SOMEONE in a position of leadership in our government would offer some comment but all we hear out of Washington is..... nothing. Translate that into this: they don’t give a shit.

I didn’t hear a peep out of Democrats either!

What is it about our dying environment that scares politicians??? Is it too crazy to comment on this report? Will their constituents consider them too far left, too “new green dealish,” too close to AOC to utter a thought about how we kill everything that we share this planet with?

I find the fact that NOT ONE mainstream political figure in our country (as far as I know) uttered NOT ONE WORD about us killing the planet after last week’s UN report scares the shit out of me. It indicated to me that this news item will cycle away like all the others, only to be forgotten by everyone.

We will go on with our selfish and destructive ways, not so quietly eliminating many species every day.

Question that eludes an answer so far is this:

At what point will we as a culture shout “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” Towards our leaders and demand that our environment requires the attention that it deserves?
